HIGH-DIFFICULTY HIKE FOR PEOPLE WITH HIKING EXPERIENCE AND AN
EXCELLENT FITNESS LEVEL.
We start our tour in the center and then go East on national road 3 for 20 kilometers.
We hike for two hours amongst forests, peat bogs, beaver dams, mountains, and glaciers.
Nature surprises us along the entire circuit.
Once we arrive at Esmeralda lagoon, we continue along the right bank of the river to start
our 5-kilometer climb towards Ojo del Albino.
An hour later, we will move through a high mountain terrain that requires a lot of
concentration. This is just the beginning of the hard part: huge erratic boulders tell us about
the glacial origin of this landscape.
After 7 kilometers, we will reach the “Balcones del Ojo del Albino”, where we will see an
incredible view of Esmeralda lagoon and the entire valley. The trail continues until we find
the last rocky wall, where we will do a short technical climb to reach the impressive Ojo del
Albino glacier.
If the conditions are appropriate, we will walk on the glacier. Once we are ready, we will
head back to the starting point following the same trail.
